  1. Coffee not good for your tennis game?

Hey, i just wanted to ask if coffee would get in the way of my game? i dont always drink it but i find that at times when i do, i play alot alot better, like amazingly well. Should i stop before i get used to doing that or continue and it wont become harmful?

  2. Leg muscle strains

What do you people use to prevent leg muscle strains or any muscle strain for that matter? I played a match today, and my leg muscles were begging for a break. This isn't common, but does happen about once every two or three weeks.

  3. Is it possible to go pro if you start tennis at age 13?

I'm 13, and love tennis. I was wondering if it is even possible to go pro starting this late. Those like federer or sharapova start really young!

  4. How to beat this kind of player?

Hi guys, This weekend I'm playing a tournament, both singles and doubles, and I'm pretty sure it's possible that I'll have to face a guy who beat me the last time we played (in singles). He's around 55 years old and not very fast. He always hits his forehand and backhand the same way. His...

  5. Strengthen your base and your footwork

After having an extended layoff from the game of tennis due to severe burnout, I had to get myself back into playing mode. After playing on the challenger circuit and getting to such a high level, I expected it to come right back with ease. Yeah right! After a 4 year hiatus, I had to retrain my...

  6. Generating top spin against off-pace shots.

I just lost a match to somebody who hits as hard as a 10 y.o. I had more unforced errors in one set as I do in a match with 4.5s (I'm only a 3.5). What sort of things do you people do to maintain rhythm, generate top spin, and connect well with the ball when playing an off-pace ball?

  7. Serving Help

Hello! I'm Dana. I've been told a lot of times that I have a lot of strength. But I don''t know how to use it. When I serve especially, I get it in only 5 out of 20 times. And that's only when I use strength. When I serve, i usually just tap the ball so it would go into the box, but I'm trying to...

  8. Grip Size

I've read and heard commentary during tournaments recently about the trend of pro players using smaller grips in relation to hand size. It seems that most of these are heavy top spin dealers. Is it really that much of an advantage to have a racquet rolling loosly around in your hand to develop...

  9. Any tips at throwing off a fast opponent?

I was playing singles with this guy today and I couldn't even win a game. I tried running him side to side hitting the ball so hard it looked like it had been in a waffle press from my strings to no avail and off pacers didn't do anything as well. I was pretty free to do what I wanted with the...

  10. Advice please

Hi I am 23 and need to start tennis from the scrath as I have been developing some interest in it for quite some time. I have a huge desire and passion for tennis and I am sure I can give this game full focus in upcoming years. The amount of effort I can put is, roughly say 2-3 hours a day, 6...

  11. Full extension or not?

I've recently switched back to a 2 hand backhand, and it's been a bit of a blessing for me. It's definitely 10 X more solid than the 1 hander, and a lot more variety too. When I was playing, I asked my coach what he though of how far your arms ought to be extended when hitting it. Like, how far...

  12. What to do

I tore a muscle in my calf the other day and the doctor gave me anti-inflamatory tablets and told me not to play tennis for a month. It's killing me not being able to play as I normally play about 12 hours a week and all of a sudden I've got loads of time on my hands. (One reason why I am on this...

  13. Hmm

Hey everyone. Today I went to go see this new pro that teaches pretty well. He pointed out that most of my mistakes were because of too much wrist, and we worked on remedying all of that. Very happy with all of this. Then he told me to try hit 2 handed backhands, and fed me a couple of...

  14. Help - My Topspin Backhand's Gone!

Aight, so, as the title suggests, my backhand's gone! I used to have a deep, heavy, DTL backhand and an equally good CC one, but ever since i started working more on my WW forehand, and making that a real weapon, i've simply lost the mechanics, i've forgotten how to hit it! Now, this isn't that...

  16. Mens Forehand v. Womens Fh

Well I was just wondering : What are the primary differences between men and women's forehands. I believe men's forehands generally use more torso rotation, and a more relaxed wrist.. What do you guys think about the advantages v. disadvantages? Also, people say Henin's forehand is like...

So today I went hitting on the ball machine, and I realized that unconsiously or not, I've started snapping my wrist... Ahh!!!! This is the one thing that is keeping me from consistency, and I don't know how to correct it... I've recently been trying to just shadow my swing like a...

  18. Serve 'n Volley tips

Does anyone have any serve 'n volley tips they care to share? It's something I rarely do or practice, so my performance of such suffers. I know if you serve out wide, you need to favor the dtl shot. I also know that it's normally best to serve to the backhand when you plan to s&v. What other...

  19. Question Forehand problems - Help please!

Hi all! Lately, I've been having some issues with my forehand. If I attempt to hit it with pace, the ball always seems to go long. I don't know what to do to improve the topspin I give to the ball. I've even considered switching from my eastern forehand grip to a semi western, but I don't know if...

  20. Improving placement sense in doubles

We play doubles every day generally. Sometimes the other players come late or do not turn up at all with the result that I either practice with a ballboy or the marker. Though my shots are good(I hit a proper top spin double handed backhand), my placement sense is poor. I am slowing down my shots...

  21. With regards to shoulder turn on the 1-handed backhand.

Ok, so, i had a really odd training session today. My coach and i have been at work returning my backhand to it's former glory, but now i'm going absolutely bonkers. Basically, i can't seem to keep my shoulders from turning through the shot, and it's very obvious that this keeps me from hitting...

  22. when to dip / dink the ball over the net?

okay, i just learnt this technique (still need to perfect it) but I'm not sure when to use it. I know it's good to do when the opponent rushes the net , as a volley is hard to handle that comes to the feet. but when else do we dip / dink the ball over the net? passing shots too maybe, rather than...

  23. Backhands...and Forehands...

Ok, so I've recently been trying out a one handed backhand. I have an okish 2 hander, but I noticed that when I performed a 2h , I used to let go of the racquet often while following through, stuff like that. So I tried the 1 hander and it seemed really natural to me... I'm just wondering...

  24. When Did You Become an Addict?

Do you remember when you > Hit your first ball that went where you wanted it to go? Served your first Ace? Made your first winning Volley? Had a Rally where the ball went back & forth more than 3 times with top spin? Won your first Set? Match? Hit your first down the line backhand winner?...

  25. The Best Tip I Can Give You.........

The one thing that truly helped me become the player I was was learning to give my opponent respect and treating them well. Here is what I mean by that. I have watched so many players put their opponents down and say absolutely stupid things during matches. Things such as "This player sucks, I...
