I would like to get a training tool for my daughter (11). It would be for her to use in the backyardwhen there is no one for her to hit with. I've seen the
"practicehit" (ball on elastic rod),
another with a ball attached to a long rubberband on a base,
a net that goes in garage door (probably the best, but not too interested in repairing aluminum siding dents from mis-hits).
Any suggestions/experience on these or others?
I don't personally think that hitting a ball attached with a elastic cord for hitting is such a good investment. Of course you are not going to be spending alot for one of these items, but consider this option instead.
Nothing, nothing compares with a practice wall. All you really need is some 2X4s, a few sheets of 3/4 inch plywood and some paint to mark the net line. You can get some more tips for construction online, but this type of training is priceless when you are lacking a live practicing partner. You don't even need a court, just someplace to put the wall against where it will never fall over. You would also need a flat hard surface underneath to simulate a court, but since you can get some good wall practice only a few feet from it, a parking area next to a garage would sufice. Well, you get the idea.
