this is my 7 year old son playing tennis, he is mad about the game and I know nothing so I am really at the mercy of a lot of money hungry coaches and it is hard to find who is genuinely interested in taking kids through the system for the child's sake and not just the money - any advice would be appreciated...

Phil,
As a current ATP coach I would suggest finding a pro who is willing to push the limits and has a record of adapting to the modern game from year to year. Staying current is very important in a rapidly changing game. For example in the last few years with heavier balls and slower courts we have seen the extinction of the serve and vollier. Now you must possess an all court game to be competitive. Finding the right coach is never easy and you may want to tackle the project yourself until you find the right person. And it can never be said enough, having fun and developing confidence is soooooo important!!!! So save your money until you find the right coach. Best of luck.

Hi Phil,
I am also a tennis coach. After viewing the video. Your goal for your child is that he is still playing when he is 12 years old.
I have seen so many kids fall in love with the game when they are 6 and 7 and then quit because they start the 1 on 1 coaching thing to early and it isn't fun anymore. Keep it fun! If you are going to get him a coach, at least put him in a group of kids also.
Doesn't matter what modern game he is taught if he quits.
