I gotta say that Sampras was a better tennis player...but in a close decision Federer is the better champion. Meaning he makes the game more exciting to watch
At present I do feel that Sampras could be rated as the best player on grass and hard Courts and having won 14 Grand Slams against Federer's 12. However should Federer win 2 more Grand Slams, which I think he will this year and also win the French Open 2008, then he will be the best tennis player in the world in my opinion.
unless roger wins the french, it will be very hard for him to be considered the best. even ivan lendl said it. it would be a great achievement to win the french.
