Send Resumes With Your Tournament Accomplishments As Well As Your Goals to all the coaches you can send it to.
What we did was FIRST make sure my son made the best grades possible. Coaches will take great students with good tennis ability because they know they will work hard based on their grades.
I knew D1s, 2s were out of the question for my son's ability level. He missed state by losing a tiebreak 11-9 his senior year in high school. He was ranked 4th in USTA state and 60-something in the district in 18s.
Every juco we went would take him and give him the max money allowed. We went to NAIA private schools and 3 said they would give him a good tennis scholarship and GREAT academic scholarship.
So now he's a sophomore in college, playing tennis, making great grades and working towards a degree at a school he loves to be at. They went to NAIA nationals last year too so they are a pretty decent squad.
What we did was call and email the coaches, gave them my son's background in tennis and academic skills and his future goals. We then scheduled visits with the schools and coaches and had interviews and hitting sessions. Based on what they saw, they offered scholarships that day. Pretty simple really. I'm sure it's more involved if you want to play D1 or D2.
