Volley positioning for doubles
I have a doubles DVD featuring Louis Cayer where he explains how the server's partner standing at the net(both legs in the same line) should take a step and then a split step and move in the direction depending upon whether it is a T serve or a wide serve. In the practical examples on the DVD and some of the other videos on the net, some players are seen with one leg forward and backward in the volley position but what is not clear is that which leg should be forward for the deuce court and which for the advantage court unless it is strictly a matter of personal preference. Kindly clarify. Some people seem to do this even while receiving serve at the baseline though I have not seen this in tournaments.
