    Roland Laurense:

Director and Founder of the Tennis Academy

    Years of experience

Roland Laurense is one of the most renowned tennis coaches of the Netherlands. He has years of experience in coaching and training talented players on ATP-, WTA- and ITF-levels. Among them are many national youth champions.

    How it all began

Roland was born in Tilburg, and lives nowadays in Amsterdam. He began his career at the CIOS-college in Sittard. It goes without saying: he chose tennis as his specialisation! During his traineeship at the Amstelpark Tennis School, he worked on court with well known names such as Martin Verkerk (ATP 14), Stefanie Rottier (WTA 93) and Mirjan Oremans (WTA 38). After finishing his CIOS study, Laurense moved to Amerika, to the "Van der Meer Tennis Academy" in Hilton Head. He here attained his USPTR professional degree for tennis-trainer, and worked as "Tennis-coach World-Class" with the best youth players.

    Trainership

In September 1997 he returned to Amstelpark where he primarily trained youth and senior players, but after obtaining his KNLTB-C diploma in 1999, Laurense moved on to train the top selection. From 2003 up to and including 2005 Laurense was also responsible for the top group, with players such as Nick van der Meer (ATP 374), Igor Sijsling (ATP 274) and Melle van Gemerden (ATP 100). Besides doing this work, he also coached competition teams up to / including the Premier division for eight years.

    Independence

Because Laurense thought that the coaching and development of talented players should be done differently and better, he decided to start his own tennis school. His ambitions and goals are very ambitious to say the least! Laurense has proved that in a short time he can set up and run a prestigious tennis school. He has already achieved his aim to make his tennis school the highest quality school in the Netherlands! With the goal to get the utmost out of their tennis possibilities, many talented players from all over Holland train daily at the tennis-school, under which national champions in the age group up to / including 12,14,16 and 18 years.

    Mission

From 2009, Laurense will put his time and energy into improving the standard of tennis-training and the professional frame-work of tennis clubs and centres. He feels dedicated to work for a generally higher level of tennis in the Netherlands. For many years, at all levels of tennis, the same recurring system has been used. New initiatives are necessary to make Dutch tennis alive and successful again!

Are there also players from other countries who train there.
And are there players who do it well international or only national.

    Question Laurense Tennis Academy

looking at their web site I have to say one of the best facilities I have seen in a long ,long time with a lot of different lodging options . Unfortunately no specific informations regarding prices and it looks like that the age group is for the 16 - 20 year olds. I will investigate further and report back.
